600-800 if you have all the accessories (keyboard, monitor, mouse, etc) already
1000ish if you need a new screen and such
Essentials:
Intel Q6800 quad core: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115055
Nvidia 9800 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130339
or
ATI 4850 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102770
and also make sure you get 4gb of ram:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231122
That will run you the newest games for super cheap without sacrificing performance!
Never buy an ATI card, they will crash every computer game ever all the time
Prolly gonna get a new keyboard (the millionth time I've spilled water on the one that came with my comp and I got borked, using the ancient one I first played EQ with 9 years ago).
Monitor is one that weighs a ton but the screens still good, never get headaches with it.
Gonna need a new case, this ones small and only has two slots for ram, I'll want more than two 2gb sticks. Whats a good ram brand nowadays?
Not getting an ATI vid card, I've always had problems with that brand and will never go back.
I'll have to buy Vista.... is worth it atm? I know I'll have to buy it sometime in the future.
Gonna get a decent size flash card to Xfer the tons of stuff I have on this comp.
Thanks for the advice guys.
Edit: man things are so cheap today, with ram that cheap, I just might get a case with like 4 slots and get 8gb.
tech report. learn it. love it.

Wow thanks noon!
Gonna go with http://techreport.com/articles.x/15941/6 minus the second hard drive.
All those sales don't apply to Canadia so I started looking at http://www.ncix.com/.
Course cus I'm in Canadia all the cheap stuff is 20-30$ extra.
Using Noons like I made:

With 162.80 in taxes it comes to $1,519.47.
Not exactly 800-1000.
Anyone got any tips for reducing this price without messing things up using NCIX?
Pay 10 dollars more for your processor and get 4 cores instead of 2 LoveOurLordLoveOurLordLoveOurLord
Quad doesn't bundle wit another product so I'd end up paying 75 bucks more one.
I would get one but thats the whole reason I'm after the duo.
Looks like I'm not gonna get this in time for tomorrow, gonna wait till Jan 1 to see what new deals they have.
make sure u get 64 bit vista u piece of canadian crap. and any more than 6 gig is stupid. also the 9+ series nvidia dont outperform the 8600+ by much. and quad cores are for faggots who dont play mmos. i got a dual core 3.0 cuz most games dont support more than one core that are mmo.
question: im using vista 64 bit, will upgrading my ramz0r from 2gb to 4gb make a big performance difference (I HAVE A VERY SHITTY PROCESSOR, BUT GOOD VIDEO CARD)

116 bucks off but only 22 left in stock.
Shud I gets?
Would the PW supply on that case be able to handle that card on sale?
Gonna get a Antec Neo HE550 High Efficiency 550W ATX12V V2.2 Active PFC Power Supply and splurg on an Antec 1200 case with 8 fans.
I heard the case is noisy when all the fans are on max, but it's rare to need them to be on full.
Won't be able to set up an online banking account until tomorrow which means the 17 XFX GeForce GTX 260 left will be gone by then![]()
Update!
Got the very last XFX GeForce GTX 260 on sale. Once my online backing is set up later today I'll order the rest of the parts.
