These cigarettes are a new innovation that came out this month (and it's only 9-11 nevar furget etc.), and I'll tell you why my friend if you keep reading.
Basically, there's a pouch inside the filter, and when you squeeze it little bursts of menthol come out into the cigarette.
So you can smoke a normal cigarette to half way, squeeze it, and continue on with a menthols.
What's also great is that you can pack them, and they won't break. They're kinda hard to pop, I mean it's not hard but it won't just go off unless you want it to. As you can see in the image above there's a little glowing camel with sparks shooting out where you're supposed to squeeze.
Now for the smokin' tokin' wiggas like myself, who try to cop up on the Newports or Marlboro smooths to get in touch with our black side here and there, cannot consume a full pack of menthols. So this offers a great solution as I can get a 1:4 ratio of menthol to normal cigarettes in a single pack.
Now we all know menthols from cough drops and such, but an interesting property of menthol is that it's a substance which triggers the cold-sensitive nerves in the skin without actually providing a drop in temperature.
A study on menthol cigarettes and race
* Menthol was preferred by 79% of black smokers, irrespective of gender. By comparison, 13% of white males and 20% of white females preferred menthol.
* Of those who smoked menthol cigarettes, white smokers had a higher mean daily rate of cigarette consumption: 31/day (male) and 27/day (female). By contrast, African American smokers' mean daily consumptions were 22/day (male) and 19/day (female).
* Flavor preference was markedly higher among African American smokers: 56% would not smoke a non-menthol cigarette if menthols were unavailable, as opposed to 28% of white participants.
But the one thing I was hoping you all would help me out with... is how is a menthol cigarette produced? Is the menthol flavoring in the tobacco or the filter?? Because I don't see how it can shoot menthol powder into the top of the cigarette through all the packed tobacco. Because if you squeeze an unsmoked one it is menthol-y from filter to tip.
