Darkfall Poll ... will it be released?

Late last year I found out about Darkfall, and was pretty excited. FFA PvP, no safe zones, full item loot, and the roleplay nerd rage was imminent, what more could I ask for? Then I realized the vapourware implications of this game ... with this much development time already invested and very very little to show for it.

There were barely even any screenshots of the damn game, and the secrecy of the game's progress by the development team was reminiscent of some gusy hiding his bad report card from his parents (if they can't see it for themselves, it doesn't suck!). And the list goes on ...

Lately though, there has been regular updates from the dev team, tonnes of new screenshots with all the races in it, combat videos, race page updates, (nevermind the ftard forum community "forumfall") etc. Really all the makings of a game I could actually believe was the real thing.

So here is the question, do you think Darkfall is going to actually be released? Or is it vapourware?

after seeing the screenshots i have come to the conclusion that my computer will not be able to play this game

because i do not want other people to have fun if i can't, i hope this game is never released

This is the game that Nnuk from Artful Death likes.

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be released at this point. I'll probably play this for a while and also try out Tabula Rasa even though my hopes are not very high.

Last MMO I did was the beta of Vanguard and it turned out to be the same old crap as everything else for the most part, with horrible PvP.

I don't know what to think. I feel as time goes on this game is looking more and more likely to actually release and actually be decent. I honestly expected it to wreak of vapourware more and more. If I didn't know any better (its history of development), I wouldn't think twice about this game releasing normally and being great.

Its main criticism is that its development is going in a very different direction than most games (almost secretive about it). But look at the current next generation games recently made, Vanguard and Tabula Rasa come to mind. Those games followed the normal production mold (mostly) and turned out to be even worse than WoW.

I'm giving this game a 50/50 chance of success in my opinion. And I honestly don't consider WoW a success, although $$$ values would tend to differ.

But after all this time it was still easy to be skeptical. Beta registration? omg finally!!! But we've been through this 2 years ago.

The graphics look like they were done on some 90's unreal engine, then bumped up to the plastic settings so you can't even run the game without 4GB of RAM and a brand spanking new video card.

If anyone thinks an absolutely perfect game will ever be released, then well, thou art a bigger ignorant dumbkiss than even I.

I would settle for an MMO with a real-time combat system, half decent graphics, open-PvP with some sort of Risk-Reward, and of course a total lack of gay instances.

Darkfall offers all of those (plus more) and if it delivers it all with somewhat smooth gameplay, we have a winner LoveOurLordLoveOurLordLoveOurLord. But yes it might be a tad much to ask for but we'll "soon" find out won't we?

Yeah I think that Warcraft has become the Google of MMOs. They all seem to fade and die in the wake of it.
