    New Orleans decends into anarchy

    http://www.comcast.net/news/index.js...01/212939.html

Dunno how reliable this is but, if it's as bad as the article says, then I wonder what's going to happen over there.

My school tried donating food and water to the red cross but they denied it, and in the article it says people are starving.

Apparently they have 300 national guard there from Iraq. Why the hell would they bring 300 guys from half way around the world to deploy back here in America? I'm guessing theres a logical reason to this.

I've never heard of people shooting at resquees, raping and looting on such a large scale after a huge disaster like this. I guess maybe that they realise if they move a ton of troops into NO that we might be vulnerable to terrorist attacks in other places? (or something?)

"They have M-16s and they're locked and loaded," Gov. Kathleen Blanco said of 300 National Guard troops who landed in New Orleans fresh from duty in Iraq. "These troops know how to shoot and kill, and they are more than willing to do so, and I expect they will."
Damn skippy. That'll put a stop to that shit real quick.

You get one "stop" and then you get a bullet in the head if you don't.

Word will travel fast and the boys will start thinking "Shit, they mean business. Put them cloths down Leroy!"

The pussy feel good shit is for the nightly news. Out in the real world you gotta lay down the smack in a big way if you wanna keep order.

A National Guardsmen got shot earlier today, The disgrungled people seem pretty pissed too. Seems to me that the hostility in the area is rising rapidly.

88 Cops got pushed back by a crowd after going in to see reports of assault.

The idea of some large scale riot/anarchy intrests me alot, though, the idea of a bunch of people killing each other because they are pissed off, doesn't.

    Yeah.

The more I read the more dissapointed im getting.

Im a big Bush fanboi but hes dropping the ball bigtime on this one.

Hell he has an insane amount of resources available to him. Moving 100,000 people a couple hundred miles shouldn't be all that big of a chore.

Take 10 transport planes that are light enough to land on highways, bus the people to that stretch of clear highway, and fly em out. The round trip would only take an hour.

If each plane could carry 50 people thats 12,000 people a day if your running 24/7. With the 50-100 busses they got going thats gotta be another 10-20,000 people a day. I just don't get it.

They shoulda had every spare national guardsmen or military in the country there within 24 hours after the hurricane passed.

They didn't react fast enough, and now they are gunna pay the price.

If the rescue effort would have started off with massive amounts of uniformed people all over the place order would have never been lost.

    (I think)

Thanks Woodie 4 hohoho PHAT sig!

New Orleans was nearly anarchy before the flood, I parked my rental car for 30 minutes came back and it was gone - no broken glass or any clues left behind. They have professionals there, and they're organized.

They're not letting rescue workers in because they're busy stealing shit, and they don't care that people are dying. They are hard-core and probably have tattoos.

the people left in new orleans are most likely the cajuns! no tattoos, just shotguns, three teeth, and sick of eating gator and possum for breakfast every morning and want some REAL meat.

This is racist pigshit, Vern. Grow up. Like you know about being "out in the real world" anyway.

BEFORE the hurricane hit, the government of New Orleans was infamously corrupt, racist and poor. Now it's worth all of nothing. The state government has so little imagination and resources that the best it can do is call up weary National Guardsmen -- "fresh" from Iraq -- to gun down people stealing shit from Wal-Mart that's already been written off on some insurance form.

Remember that the looters and marauders have ZERO COMMUNICATION with the world now. They are bold, afraid and intoxicated and are watching people -- family members and friends -- die all around them. What little they had is gone and they don't know where they're going. Yes. Let's gun them down. It'll be great entertainment for our "Christian" armchair rednecks who won't possibly lift a finger to help.

A good friend of mine is a cop in downtown St. Louis. It about as big of a war zone as you can get, and ive gone on alot of ride alongs with him. I know plenty about how shit really works. Ever wonder why most cops are assholes? They have to be. You show any weekness to a hardcore criminal and he'll eat you alive. However if you come along stern and commanding the chances of him taking you seriously go way up. Criminals need to be scared of cops. Fear is what makes people behave. Its as simple as that.

If you want to maintain order anywhere the authorities have to have to be strong. They show any sign of weekness and they might as well not even be there.

Its the same thing in Iraq. You have to have OVERWHELMING force to keep order. I don't care how hardcore a criminal is, if him and his buddy are stealing stuff, and the cops tell his buddy to stop and then shoot him when he doesn't the other guy probably is going to obey. Criminals get scared just like everyone else, and thats just how you want them to be.

You remember world war II and Japan? How did we get the nation that would never surrender to surrender? Overwhelming force.

Also, how do you figure me a racist? I didn't even remotely mention race at all?

If you have more extensive real world experience than me, by all means share it with us.

I also sent $100 to the red cross and at the present I don't have alot of money. I also called the red cross to see if they needed volunteers down there, and they told me they weren't taking people down, and not to go myself because more people would only add to the confusion. I don't think you can really call me an "armchair redneck who wouldn't lift a finger".

    What have you done?

    Asshole

    (I think)

Edit: I copied one thing from one spot and put it in another without deleting the original, kekeke, all clean now

Yeah but why are they assigning people from Iraq to do that, when we should have people here, in the States, ready to roll?

I'd imagine that they aren't suppost to, but it's still allowed in the sense of "don't let us see it.." and "don't break anything".

Like I said, the news is usually inaccurate, but they have said that people are starving in places like the Superdome. If I was there, hungry, I'd be right there stealing away everything I could hold.

And, knowing that I had also lost my house, I'd probably be tempted to steal jewelry and stuff as well, even though I am a fairly honorable person, I can't really say for sure what I'd do. (I'd figure that there might be a way of tracking the jewelry you stole, though.)
I sure as hell wouldn't be taking toys and shit out, what the kiss is up with that?

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm not sure how long I'd sit without food or water before I started thinking about ninjalooting the quickiemart down the road.

But don't try to make Vern's post into a white people / black people thing because he didn't mention anything of the sort (okay fine, I read Vern's post). Everyone down there is a person, who is starving to death.

Except for the fat guys with guns down there who are shooting nurses and relief workers. Those guys should be PKd IRL.

I think we should each try to do SOMETHING to help the relief. Anything. Whether it's sending money to Red Cross, or bringing clothes/diapers/food to a shelter down there in the surrounding states.

Just for the record, in another thread I clearly said that taking food/water from grocery stores is fine. I have no problem with that. People have to survive. Any cop stopping that should be fired.

What im talking about is the armed people who are stealing gold watches and TV's. As far as im concerned people stealing food shouldn't even be called looters.

I can guarantee you though the people taking the food aren't the ones causing the problems though. Its the guys that turn into animals once the authority is removed.

Those are the people you have to deal with swiftly.

Some guy on the news the other day had a big ball of new cloths he was taking out of a store, and a cop came up and shoved a shotgun in his face and he dropped them. Thats what im talking about.

Thats just how I want it to be too. Its no different than how I would want the cops to treat a guy who was about to come shoot me for something I posted on the internet.

Im sure alot of people over the years would have loved to have come break my knee's with a baseball bat because of what ive posted on the interweb, but they don't because they know the cops would WTFPWN them if they did.

The big problem with this situation is the damn government is like a bunch of 5th graders trying to find their shoes in the morning. The other day when the 88 cops went into the New Orleans dome and got bum rushed they SHOULD have tear gased the whole crowd and then taken control of the situation IF they had an actual plan to start helping the people. The problem is though that once they got the people under control all they could tell them to do is go back to where they were and wait.

The government kissed this one up big time.

This is the first time in my life that I can't defend the governments actions to U.S. haters from other countries.

This sucks. It sucks bad, and it should scare everyone.

Wealthiest country in the world and we can't move 100,000 people 400 miles in less than a week. We got an extra 50 mil to figure out how to make foam stick to the side of the space shuttle fuel tank though! Its sad really. Im actually down on Bush for the first time since he was first elected.

The real shame though is it sounds like they are gunna try to rebuild down there. Its gunna cost billions of tax payer dollars, and another hurricane could come along next year and cause the exact same thing to happen and kill another several thousand people.

I'm not trying to be a butthole by saying this, but as a nation we would be better off by buying every family from down there a $200k house anywhere in the country they want, or just giving them the cash then we would allowing New Orleans to be rebuilt. It just makes no sense, and your literally sentencing some people in the future to guaranteed death if its allowed.

See, what looks like a bum rush could be a bum rush, or it could be a thousand panicked people thinking there's a bus coming to take them out of there, or they could think that there is medical and water there, or it could be a rumor that there is more floodwater rushing at them (those rumors have caused mad rushes in there already)... well, it could be anything. Tear gas on people who could be innocent, or could be getting pushed, and nonetheless, will receive absolutely no medical treatment afterwards, probably isn't going to help the situation. It's just a huge fustercluck.

Well the report was it was 88 cops going to investigate a report of assualt (Wtf you need 88 cops for that, though?) and the people there pushed them back. I don't think it was a panic "OMFG WERE ALL GUANNA DIED OAHH O" to me it could have just been a bunch of disgruntled people that didnt want to see a bunch of guys here to help one person who couldnt defend themselves when they are thristy, hungry, and poor.

CNN on how, and not everyone is recieveing medical treatment, since they don't have enough people there yet.

It's amazing to me though, I'd really really think that after the distruction, Bush or whoever was responsible for this kiss up would have lines of people waiting for the "GOGOGO". Yet this shows how well caught of guard we were, even to an annouced disaster. As it was already said, I'm sure the terrorists are taking advantage or learning something.

I wonder if it would be possible for terror agents to be put into the area to claim "HELP HELP I LOST EVERYTHING, PLEASE REPLACE SS/BIRTHCERTIFICATE/ETC." or something?

EDIT: 80 Days to drain the city? Damn.

I wish they wouldnt bother trying to drain the city, itd be cool to let it be all filled with water then like 50 years later itd be all some cool tourist attraction with boat tours around the ruins and to show off generations of homeless families who live there.

This is an interesting copy of a letter to the President. It was on the Louisana gov. site, and I think you guys should see it. It was written before the hurricane hit.

In some weird format i dont want to get a reader for, but im sure its some complaint about

O NOSE THE LEVIS ARENT LOOKING SO GOOD RIGHT NOW
    I SEE A TROPICAL STORM

People there didn't expect it to be so damaging. One lady on Fox said "I weathered Andrew, how bad could this be?".

If you have acrobat reader, you can read it. It's a request written from the gov of LA, on the 28th, requesting aid to evacuate the coastal cities that would be hit by the hurricaine.
