Why won't PlanetSide be the next game you'll abandon like Darkfall, AoC, Vanguard, EQ2 PvP, etc.

Reason #1: Planetside1 was a great game and this has most of the same devs.
Reason #2: I realized a bunch of things about running guilds that I think should make playing PS2 more fun. (Splitting leadership, giving people opportunities to lead and organize events)
Reason #3: Planetside2 is free to play and so there will be more stupid people and no obligation to pay a subscription.
Reason #4: Each Flower in the guild simply makes us stronger... there's no 40 man or whatever limit on how many people we can bring. Along with this, a level 1 is perfectly able to kill a level 20 every single time because there are only "sidegrades", not upgrades.
Reason #5: MMOFPS games are always fun no matter how bad they are (WWIIOnline, etc). If we do this right, we will have a great time.

I'm not gonna go into why those other games didn't work out, but I think the main reason is that they were essentially just EQ1 clones. From what I've seen so far, Planetside2 seems like Battlefield3 in a MMO setting.

AoC was fun for a lot of reasons, but I'll give you that one of them was the leadership.

    No Kaga, but yea.

It is a solid fact that Gean is super-cool, honest, but game after game I've noticed that every one of you except Lostboy has quit hard and fast.

I know you all have a bagload of MMO experience, but I own my destiny, and other than Fry, If I made it big, I would hire Lostboy first.

Every indie MMO has a popularity curve that drops off fast, and if you are running said MMO, it is hugely important to "fix" this. But after that, you need valid input. Almost every one of you are outside that curve.

You know what? I make a lot of shitty posts after even just one or two beers, and the first thing I do after having a few is jump on here.

It is true that you'll all quit Planetside after a few weeks, but that's no excuse to make a shitty post. I apologize.

I played the first PS1 consistently for 3-4 years, I even had my own outfit (Pirate & Cowboy Alliance) once most of the original people I played with quit. I plan to keep this outfit going whether or not people from Notacult play- MMOFPS games are my favourite type of game and if PS2 is as good as PS1 then I'll stick with it for a few years at least until a better MMOFPS comes out. ESPECIALLY when you realize that this game is going to be free to play.

Don't apologize... We need people back and posting =( I was just joking man!

I remember playing EQ2 PVP with you and we stayed with that for a bit even though it sucked... I feel like a lot of what makes us quit is so many of these games are disappointing. I think those of us planning on playing PS2 are gonna have such a hard-on for it that we will stick with it no matter what. It's free too, which will allow people to play it as 'something to do' like League of Legends. No one wants to pay 15 bucks a month for a game they don't want to play but tons of people will hop on a free game for no reason besides they're bored! It could be a potential FoH place of congregation where people meet and make friends and then play other more specific games together, etc.

hohoho i posted what geandily posted p much without reading

Teamspeak Crew is still alive... BARELY

It's weird. I'm starting to wonder if I've ever really played an MMO with FOH.

    Timeline:

I played EQ on SZ and spoke to FoH once or twice, not knowing anything about them.

I played PvE EQ2 and liked it until I didn't.

I read the Fansy stories because we had to switch to WoW and I got to pick the server, for once.

I enjoyed pooprockets and spam and gkicks as a spectator, who wouldn't?

I got to 60 and FoH decided that raiding was not cool and we could not get our epics.
Not naming names (Blart) but we were devastated and cried our eyes out (not literally) and left.

We started a guild and had fun for a long while, but never FoH fun. Let's say FoHfun/2.

Next I played many games "with" FoH but they quit after 30 days, every one.

    From most-memorable to least:

EQ2 (Learned that Gean was not at all a dick like I thought, and that Fastinyo was exactly as cool as I expected him to be, but would never put up with me)

Darkfall (I would say that FoH presence was anti-FoH. Though saying that FoH has changed, or otherwise acted against it's own policies, is the cliche way of proving that you aren't Zen, I mean FoH)

(I eat more crackers because I'm hoping to gain cracker weight. They have rosemary, which might be good for you.)

    that's it....

I had a lot of fun playing Mortal with Trelin, and by "with" I mean he gave me some advice and gold.

I need to give a shout out to Vanguard world design. Wasted on no one looking.

By the way guys, Darkfall is the best thing since EQ. The only thing it doesn't have is any sort of support or interest or playerbase.

And if not that, Mortal was really pretty good. You should try out some of these games made by small companies thinking they can run MMOs.

This is the golden age. One day you are going to look back on yourself and kick yourself that you never tried these. Mortal even has a small map.

Even Vanguard had a kickass world but effed up at bringing players together. One day I'll show you a better way.

It's weird, you are like roving gangs of miscreants, but you only rove to the newest thing. None of you are dumb. We could have so much fun scheduling 1 month to play MUD1 or, shit any good game together.

Which is my point? You are ADD. I've met tens of people who aren't, and I am one of them. Lostboy is NOT add, and there may be others, but they don't post a lot.

So does this mean you'll be playing Planetside for a month?

I hear you though. In my zillion hours of online play time, I've spent 0.01% of it with FoH. The main reason is that I almost only play video games during daytime hours. The secondary reason is the "geezer curve" -- for every ten years of age younger than me that my fellow gamers are, their hand-eye coordination and impatience are increased by 150%.

Of that 0.01% of time though, it was always fun.

If you play planetside I'll roll with you even if you're bad. We can find ways to cheat/lame our opponent to win.

At least 50% of my video game time since 2000 has been spent with FoH members. During the EQ days I pretty much always grouped with FoH or at least talked in guild chat. Afterwards I was always on teamspeak.

I've never understood why more of you gusy dont come to teamspeak! Is it Bhauk's talk of aliens and spiritualism, Kaga's loud noises? My constant complaining? You guys should join once in a while, we play a lot of different games... Mount and Blade, Sins of a Solar Empire, Left4Dead, and best of all, this horrible Korean made basketball MMO with a community made up entirely of 14 year old urban youths. "yo get da rebound stupid fu kking scrub"

I'm with NYGuy tho- any game that FoH plays together is ALWAYS fun. Darkfall was fun until everybody quit listening to Beastro and we never really got organized into a big group together :\

Along with that, I like Gusy's idea: We pick a game and just play it together. #1 priority in our next game should be to stick together and come up with fun stuff to do as a group.

Sort of, you get a skill that flags you for like 5 min and allows you to attack anyone. You can use it whenever you want, if you hit it and attack someone who isnt also flagged it gives you infamy which makes you stay flagged. I don't really understand the infamy yet but i do know that flagging yourself makes it so you can attack other players regardless of whether they are also flagged. so its more like you go "hey guys im about to be a cock!" and then you turn red and start slaying newbs.
I think that when people start getting elected to be president of areas they can set the npc guards to attack certain infamy levels and stuff like that.

I played Star Wars with Crying Eyes for about an hour once and then never saw him again. It was fun. I thought he was some strange person swearing at me and questioning my manhood until I realized O SHIT IT'S THE I AM F U C K GUY. I'll probably let my Star Wars lapse too.

    What does shred mean?!

yah i fell off the star wars bit cuz of the whole newborn thing, but shes like over 2 months old now so basically takes care of herself. and when i went back to star wars after ( last week) it was all deserted and the changes they had implemented addressed none of the important shit so people are evacing. still liked it but it was just not a long lasting mmo after storyline stuff.

Yeah the questing/leveling part was done really well... albeit it required almost no grouping and basically felt like a singleplayer game.
The game just didn't encourage any community interaction :\

The reason I went back to playing WoW is that it's the one game I can reliably connect with the same friends in even after seven years of playing it.

But I'm ok with soloing too and even prefer it most of the time. A shame that Crying Eyes left SWTOR because once I realized that he wasn't a RL serial killer he was cracking me up with his relentless badgery. Too bad.

I come off murdery at first? la~

follow me to tera! here is my master list of reasons why i like Tera
    1.) you can kill steal
2.) you can kill anyone outside of the towns if you dont care about being pvp flagged
3.) it has very very trollable general chat. fags be angsty bro.
4.) the combat is actually mildly engaging, blocking and evading is up to you not skill based, this makes pvp more interesting. with patience and vigilance you can defeat superior leveled and geared players with your leet skills.
5.) you can play it from a recliner with your xbox controller and set up linked chat exclamations that say "suck my diccckkkkkkkk" or "Don't cum inside me you faggot" when you push a button.
6.) only 49.99 which is not that bad.
7.) the game is appealing to pedos and furries...and who doesn't love screwing with those pervturds?

No games for me! Computer is broken. Keeps BSODing... It's either the hard-drive, a corrupted windows install, or faulty RAM. My bet is on RAM, but I havent had the time to run a memtest yet.

I'm leaving on the 12th and wont be back until the 21st so I won't be able to sort it out until I get back
