    OH HEY ...

    (thread hijack)

I just finished mowing 2 acres (over 5 weekends) of 3-4 foot high brush with a little Toro mower:

The Toro is now mostly destroyed although the Briggs & Stratton engine is holding up great. The terrain just mangled it. So I'm looking to get something that will mow all this crap down. You can kind of see the steep grade from the pictures -- there's two acres of this thorny, sapling-laden brush that just goes on and on.

I want a riding mower because I feel like getting high and then just riding around chopping shit down, but I'm a little paranoid about sinking $ into a riding mower that might not even be able to climb the hill.

Do you like those brush mowers? Do you mow hills?

    Is John Deere a scam?

i destroyed a riding mower and so will you. Bent blades trashed deck etc.

You need a brush mower walk behind kind.

there are cheaper versions too. Liek a big weed wacker on wheels. That might be good enough for you. thing is it wont get trashed do to its a thick weed wacker plastic string or its a steel blade that swings and if hits a rock it bends back and doesnt get thrashed.

DR Power Equipment - Please Configure Browser to Accept Cookies here is a 1000 dollar model. used can find em cheaper on craigslist. they also have driving versions you pull behind a tractor

john deere is not a scam, get a brush hog attatchment and mow 2 acres in 30 minutes ;o that's what i do for pastures ect, but i also use a nice 0 turn riding mower for grass that just has to look sexy

All of my mowable property is probably on a 15-20° grade and I don't care at all about beautiful barefoot grass -- just want to keep it from turning into a briarpatch. I've thought about the walk-behinds but it just doesn't sound as fun as riding.

Bush-hog + tractor will be out of price range.
