What is the best FPS if all I want to do is shoot people? Does anyone play just to shoot lots of people?

I used to play Quake 2 and a good chunk of the servers were just deathmatch. Shortly after that, it seems like pure deathmatch died out and team-strategy FPSes took its place. Sometimes I want to play a game that doesn't require coordinating with a team via headset. I still want to play something popular that looks pretty though. What newish FPS should I install to have access to the largest base of servers that operate as pure FFA deathmatch?

Another thing I liked about the Quake 2 servers was that I could just jump in and out. They would cycle maps every so often, but there never seemed to be a beginning or end to any of it. I'd like something like this if it still exists.

me and SQUIBB are playuing this game called Urban Terror its a quake3 mod that is a FREE**** standalone game cause quake3engine is open source now

it's pretty tactical, you can configure your wep prdy good, I usually shoot either a Remington SR-8 bolt action sniper w/ 3x 10x 25x triple scope, or if its a more close quarters map I'll bust out the silenced H&K G36E w/ las0r d0tz 3x scope and put it on burst mode to conserve ammo and just snipe peoples heads. The weapon variety is pretty good for a mod.


also I never camp I just run up and quickscope 1shot n3\/\/bz in the face all day... also the game is way rad because you can like sprint and double jump up walls and slide far distances etc. It's not really a real-world physics model during your short sprints, also you have to manually reload empty magazines and if you get shot you gotta bandaid yourself to 50% and a friend can bandaid you to like 75%

only problem is lots of haxxers... you gotta find a server with active admin to kick all the n00bs on a 40 kill streak headshotting people who were in sprint mode


also I like this game because the graphics aren't all faggoty like MW2 so I can play on laptop w/ a decent framerate olo

I find deathmatch gets pretty boring very fast. Good practice though.

When I am in the mood to just mindlessley play an fps I log onto TF2

No one takes the public servers particularly seriously and it's a fast pace style of game.
