I've been dicking around with Wow a bit lately and I've really been taking advantage of the cross server Pvp and dungeon systems. I'm not sure when this was implemented but I think its a great idea. I would have most likely played a lot longer if this had been in place before.

In case you haven't messed with it, it works like this. For PVP (battlegrounds), depending on your level, you can pop open a window and go into a queue from anywhere in the world. You have to be at least level 10 and you can do Warsong Gulch, which is capture the flag. You can only do this one until level 20, then you can do Warsong or Arathi Basin. Every 10 levels you can pick an new battlegrounds location, in addition to the others you already have been playing. You can also queue for 2 at a time, and you can also form a group ahead of time and all join the battleground as a group.
When you get to the battleground it mixes you with other players of your level range 10-19,20-29,30-39 etc, from all the other servers.

Dungeons work in a similar fashion, they start at level 15. You can pick a random dungeon or a specific one that matches your level range, and you also pick what your role will be in the group, which is damage, tank or healer. You get automatically teleported to the dungeon no matter where it is, and when the instance is done you get ported back to where you were. Also, when you lose a party member it automatically refills that spot with someone that fits the correct role.

I like the fact that if you're just doing the normal Wow questing stuff you can queue for a dungeon or pvp and mix between all 3. It makes the game a lot less boring and you don't have to go through all the trouble of travelling back and forth from where you were before.

I barely even mess with the regular questing stuff, I mainly will do all PVP if I'm near the higher end of the level range, like close to 20, 30, 40, etc, and on the low end of the range I'll do dungeons to build up gear.

My only real problem with the system is not being able to talk shit to the players on the other side, at least as far as I can see. Hunters seem a bit overpowered in the lower levels but if you learn how to play a different class well you can even it out. I've been learning a rogue lately.

I guess I had forgotten how much PVP completely changes the way you look at a game like this. The whole strategy of how you play your class expands at least 10 fold because you have to do something distinctly different when going up against different classes as well as in all different situations.

Picking gear seems to be more oriented towards items with stamina so you can have more HP, whereas in EQ it seemed like it was all about magic resistance. Being able to root or snare is still huge. My hunter has been using a spider pet that has this web rooting ability.

I'm curious as to how many of you guys played a lot of PVP in Wow and what you did or didn't like about it. Also, have you used the newer cross server system that I described above and what do you think about it?
