Re: This Week's Topic: Hypersensitivity! Whining! Dramatics!

Here it is -- eventually it WILL get taken down -- so here's another copy for posterity!

<font face="Verdana" size="3" color="blue">

Guild Wildfire has been deleted. Delsenora and Zyquo left the guild earlier today, since they were no longer content with the way the guild was evolving.

This in itself is not such a bad thing, members come and go in any Everquest guild.

The main reason for the deletion and thereby removal of the remaining members is that Rainy Skys of the "Mythic Legion", close friend of Delsenora,

has decided to blacklist me with her guild and online friends.

While I take this threat to myself lightly (you will too, when you read the below transcript and then afterwards, my comments),

I will not have anyone in Wildfire suffer for her irrate behavior, however remote the possibility.

Deleting the guild seemed the best way to immediatly detach every guild member from my in-game characters.

<hr>

For your reading pleasure, I have reposted Rainy's unprecipated litany of curses from my log files. Please note that I have at no point responded, since I was mostly busy

fighting at the time. Therefore, the 'responses' I would have liked to type at the time, are in white after each /tell.

[Tue Sep 26 03:09:36 2000] Rainy tells you, 'So anyhow, lots of rumors floating around.. I could care less about anyone else, but I hear I have bad equipment, and my pet control sucks.. So listen up newbie.'

</font>

Where did you hear that then? You state they are rumors, given along through at least 3 different people, yet still you believe them?

No one ever commented on your pet control, other things yes, but not that.

<font color="#FF00FF">

[Tue Sep 26 03:10:28 2000] Rainy tells you, 'I've been playing since day 1 beta 1, and while you didn't even own an account then, pets weren't even added to shamans untill much much later, so lets talk equipment..'

</font>

So your pet control does suck? Where's your point? Ok let's talk equipment.

<font color="#FF00FF">

[Tue Sep 26 03:10:53 2000] Rainy tells you, 'I have what I have because I spent the time to get what I have, not have everything handed to me, like you newbies do.'

</font>

Newbies like us that started from scratch on this server and got nothing given to them? Where does that make us different from you?

I also remember quite clearly turning down your help and your offer of platinum.

The only person that got everything handed to her is your protegé. We'll get to that later...

<font color="#FF00FF">

[Tue Sep 26 03:11:27 2000] Rainy tells you, 'So lets talk group control, and your sad sad leadership..'

</font>

<font color="#FF00FF">

[Tue Sep 26 03:12:12 2000] Rainy tells you, 'For starters, as a leader, you always had this over asserted you knew what you were doing attitude, which is laughable at best..'

</font>

Yes you're right of course, assertiveness has never been a leadership quality.

<font color="#FF00FF">

[Tue Sep 26 03:13:14 2000] Rainy tells you, 'I fight with the best, and I'm in the best guild. We don't just recruite everyone in the game, we play with this people, find out thier strengths and use that, something you appearently don't see..'

</font>

So Wildfire just plain recruited everyone they could find? Is that what you're saying? Too bad you never took a look at the roster of the guild you joined.

<font color="#FF00FF">

[Tue Sep 26 03:13:54 2000] Rainy tells you, 'Your remark about my equipment is hysterical, I have a manastone, I have golden efreeti boots, I have dragon gear..'

</font>

What remark would that be? As far as I can remember, your character Rainy took part in one single guild event of Wildfire and that only after you seemed unable to further play your

33 magician without chain-dying. I'm sure to remember everyone was in awe of your equipment.

Perhaps we didn't do the /kneel animation often enough, but the guilds wisdom casters certainly admired your nice toys.

Nearly dying to level 15ish yard trash during the event at level 55 sort of made the more straight-thinking guild members wonder, if you know how to use those toys.

<font color="#FF00FF">

[Tue Sep 26 03:18:50 2000] Rainy tells you, 'So its a sad, sad world for you, that you happen to make enemys the way you do.. I've allready informed Mythic to avoid you, which includes no rez's, no help, and worst off you will never get into mythic, no matter how hard you try'

</font>

I can't remember making any enemies. I certainly don't think you are my enemy. Concerning your blacklisting me in your guild, well that's too bad for me I guess.

Mythic Legion is a powerful guild and has many decent people in it, but they somehow always have trouble remembering you when I teleport one of them and then say:

"Give my regards to Rainy when you see her.". Even if what you said holds true, I will get over it.

<font color="#FF00FF">

[Tue Sep 26 03:22:25 2000] Rainy tells you, 'So good luck in your sad little life, I'll be sure and let all the many many people I know online to avoid you at all costs..'

</font>

Well you're open threat does nothing to prove you've spent even a minute considering the situation.

Your closing remarks I will allow to speak for themselves.

<font color="#FF00FF">

[Tue Sep 26 03:27:57 2000] Rainy tells you, 'have a pleasent day, trash talkin lame newbie..'

(The following is my opinion. Your views may differ.)

So where did all these problems come from?

After founding the guild and adding the first few members,

two very special ladies joined our guild. One was a High Elf Cleric named Delsenora,

the other her in-game mother Mizri, being the alternate character of the above mentioned Rainy.

Delsenora was what I call a 'mutant'. She embodies the worst aspect of powerleveling.

While the person behind the in-game Delsenora is great and truely embodied the spirit of our "family-style" guild, her deficiencies while playing were glaring.

Imagine giving a total newbie a level 25 character and letting them lose on unsuspecting groups. Now while none of this is Del's fault, it was indeed the reason for a

lot of strife and argument among other guild members. A lot of that which Bazel called "soldier gossip" went on, which is quite natural since the anger had to be vented somewhere.

Although I was quite vocal in 'venting', I was certainly not the only one.

Even Delsenora's own fiancé had his fair share of this, presenting tales of newbie folly every morning after a long night of EQ.

Any seasoned player could only either laugh or cry when you ask a mid-level cleric why he didn't save himself from certain death with 'Divine Aura' and you get as an answer "What's that?".

Add to that her mentor, Rainy.

Not only did she 'forget' (for example) to raise Del's channeling skills above zero,

leading to an unexplainable loss of efficiency in a hard fight, she also seemed to lack a lot of knowledge of the in-game mechanics, oftentimes leaving those of the guild

that chose to peruse the various everquest messageboards every day to find the truth behind the game mechanics with a big question mark, as to how she could have attained such a level.

Perhaps Rainy just had a bad day ... or a lot of them. Suffice to say, the agreement among a large part of the guild was that something was indeed fishy about this shamaness.

So even if she is among the elite of her guild, we never saw any performance of that level.

Any argument about this was always stifled with Rainy's favorite final comment "I've been playing this game for so long, I just know better than you.". Well, you don't.

Coming full circle now, I'll have to mention that we did undertake an effort to rectify the Delsenora situation.

Diplomatically nudging at first, then later outright telling her what to do.

It went wrong.

Delsenora, when she was no longer able to bear the way the guild had turned out for her, took her leave from us like a true lady.

Members becoming discontent with the direction a guild is evolving is a fact of life in Everquest.

Speaking out against behavior of the guild leader or the members would have helped.

If you don't want that, then taking your leave silently is an honorable thing to do.

Going totally nuts isn't.
